Yaad Shehar, Vol 1 is a collection of short stories taken from the radio show titled Yaadon Ka Idiot Box. Neelesh Mishra, a popular radio jockey by profession, narrates short stories on his show on Big 92.7 FM. In his narrations, the radio jockey/author talks about stories set in an imaginary city called Yaad Sheher. This book, is an attempt at compiling all those stories under one title.

The stories in this book contain characters that are lovable and real. Readers can relate to these characters and feel nostalgic. The writing of the stories is simple and seems effortless. It is easy to imagine the scenes described in the book. Various characters like the milkman, the shopkeeper, the neighbor and other protagonists are mentioned in these stories.

The author has gone a step further in making his writing relatable by incorporating shayaris and other such features with mass appeal. The dialogues between the characters feel genuine and the author takes some liberties while including English dialogues. There is a feel of authenticity to the writing that helps in expanding the scope of the book.

Stories like Phoolon Ka Guldasta, Ek Naya Mehmaan, Ladies Tailor, etc. help in intellectually stimulating the readers minds with their conclusions. Yaad Shehar, Vol 1, a collection of various stories set in the fictional city of Yaad Sheher, was published by Westland Yatra in 2013. It is available in paperback format.
