South Asia Books has been the premier distributor of books from India since 1969. Its Founder, Professor Jerry Barrier, was considered one of the foremost scholars on Sikhism in the world. He was a Professor of History at the University of Missouri for over 30 years, even achieving chair of that department for a period. He taught Nonviolence and Peace Studies, specializing in Gandhi. He was the author and editor of ten books and numerous articles on India and Sikhism. In 1994, he was awarded a special honor from the Indian government and the National Book Trust, celebrating over 25 years of service facilitating the exchange of books and ideas between the U.S. and India. At present, South Asia Books is still the primary distributor of Indian books in the North America and carries an inventory of over 20,000 titles. These cover virtually every subject related to South Asia and beyond. We also regularly special order and have in stock a range of language materials and dictionaries. Another service we offer is tracking down those hard to find or old titles that may not be in the main stream of Indian publications. Please just contact us and provide us with a title, author, publisher, ISBN or any information you may have. We will then do a search and let you know within a day or two whatever information we find. We specialize and have vast experience in working with groups, institutions and libraries in building collections at reasonable prices. If you are a library, we will check your holdings for you and then provide lists based on the subjects you specify. This is a service many have found valuable as it eliminates much of the leg work on your end. For those looking to place bulk/text orders, please contact us directly for our bulk order discount information.
