A Man Outside History is a collection of English translation of 111 Urdu poems written by Naseer Ahmed Nasir, a famous poet from Pakistan, translated into English by Bina Biswas. It is a record of poetic exploration of a man's reaction to history that is about time, psychological and chronological, in all its vivid poetic details. Nasir excels in romantic, rural, local and natural imagery.



Author Bio: Naseer Ahmed Nasir is one of the most eminent, distinct, cultured and thought provoking poets from Pakistan. He is considered as a trend setter poet of modern Urdu poems among his contemporaries. He has a poetic creed of his own, a fine sensibility and a gift of reflective abstraction. This is how critics have summarized Nasir's art. His poetry has been translated into various international languages such as English, Spanish, Russian, Romanian, Uzbek, Hindi and Persian along with some regional languages and has several poetry collections to his credit. He is also editor of an Urdu literary magazine 'Tasteer'. Naseer Ahmed Nasir was born on 1st April 1954 in a nondescript village Nagrian in Gujrat district of Punjab, Pakistan. A civil engineer by profession, he is married and having three children and now permanently settled in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.

Dr. Bina Biswas, a Professor of English, based in Hyderabad, is a translator, critic, poet, fiction writer, editor and multilinguist par excellence, besides being a Tagore expert. Her first book, a collection of short stories titled 'The Tale of the Missing Shoe and Other Stories' and the second, 'Breeze in the Old Building and Other Stories' have been published in 2012. Her book 'Tagore's Heroines - Assessing the Portraits of Gender Orientation' and her poetry book 'Forest Flowers' have been released in May 2013. Her translation of Mahesh Dattani's play 'Final Solutions' into Bengali, the well-known Bangladeshi playwright Masum Reza Khan's play 'Araz Charitramala' into English from Bengali (Co-translator) will be published soon. She is also the co-author of the English translation of Michael Madhusudan Dutt's celebrated epic, Meghnadbadh Kabya, in a mammoth work titled 'An Epic on the Slaying of Meghnaad' and 'Bombcase Baxi and Cleo - Detectives Extraordinaire' to be published soon.
