This is book on a new approach of pragmatic study of a novel by considering the significance of the nonverbal strategies exploited by the writer. It is obvious that communication is a system of subsystems; and literature is a cultural product and every culture has its own socio-cultural patterns of linguistic behaviour. Besides language, the nonverbal behavioural patterns thoroughly reflect the socio-cultural aspects in the literature of a region or a nation.
This book is designed to be used as a representative text to deal with the English literary texts which reflect the cultural phenomena in India. There can be ample scope for applying such a kind of analytical method to interpret the literary discourse for better understanding irrespective of language.
