Nicholson spent his life in pursuit of understanding the Path of the Dervish. He presents the basic tenets of Sufism with both clarity and respect. I read this for a class on sufism, and found it really helpful. I didn't appreciate it quite as much as "conference of the birds" which had a lot more of the original texts worked in.
