South Asia Books - Who Are We? South Asia Books has evolved from a supplier of rare volumes from India and Pakistan to the major supplier for India related monographs for bookstores, wholesalers, libraries, and individuals. It all started in the midst of a riot in Lahore in 1969. While waiting out the curfew, Prof. N.G.Barrier took refuge in a book store. While there, he read through many titles and decided to export books to the U.S. Since then, the firm has grown to its present facility- a 6,000 square foot warehouse with towering shelving systems, a suite of business offices, and a large shipping and receiving area. Several full-time employees deal with customers via phone, e-mail, and fax, and we pride ourselves in being able to ship books readily in stock within 24 hours.
South Asia Books adds approximately 2,000 new titles annually, carefully chosen to represent the very best of publications from India and South Asia. Most of the major publishers from India have given us exclusive distribution and publicity rights in the U.S., including Motilal, Munshiram, DK Printworld, Manohar, UBSPD, Vikas, Rupa, Rawat, and Satguru. We also have arrangements for special orders from other publishers and distributors if customers have detailed information on the books.
South Asia Books prices are very competitive with those offered by several U.S. firms that have entered the market recently, or from dealers operating from India. We welcome orders derived from fliers or other publicity material generated by publishers and other distributors. We take Visa, Master Card, and can arrange credit upon prior approval. We also will have sale and text lists periodically updated. Please visit the category of "sale" and "texts" We also send periodic sales lists, please contact us for information
